The SG Standard '61 model pays homage to the classic design, celebrated and revered for its influential sound that has transcended generations and genres of music. Originally introduced in 1961 as a successor to the Les Paul™, the SG™ or "solid guitar" was a revolutionary design. Today, the Gibson SG Standard '61 stays true to the original model with its SlimTaper™ mahogany neck and bound rosewood fingerboard. The body features intricate body scarfing, a 5-ply teardrop pickguard, and a 22nd-fret neck joint. The hardware includes a classic Tune-O-Matic™ bridge and Keystone tuners, all nickel-plated. The pickups are 60s Burstbucker™ humbuckers™, offering a classic sound with improved power and high-end. The controls are equipped with audio taper potentiometers and Orange Drop® capacitors. In 1961, the Les Paul Standard underwent a complete transformation, resulting in the iconic design now known as the SG.
